Built-Up Roofing (BUR) systems include hot or cold, smooth built-up asphalt and conventional ballasted built-up asphalt applications. BUR system types generally consist of multiple layers: asphalt bitumen, reinforcing roofing ply sheets including base, ply and cap sheets and one or more surfacing materials. The type of roof surface coating used impacts cost and durability. BUR can minimize installation cost and is compatible to accommodate many challenging roofing conditions.
